I was born in Abbottabad, in the hills of northern Pakistan, and I was three months old when my parents brought me to Dubai. I went back to Abbottabad for university years later, but this city is the home I actually know. Everything that follows starts here. I sold my first thing in the fourth class. There was nothing clever about it: classmates wanted things they could not get, I could get them, and the difference was mine. Friends, family, anyone in reach. I have never really stopped. Then the phones changed what I was selling. Around 2005 a Nokia was the most capable machine most people owned, and there was nothing to fill it from: no app store, no data plan, no download. There was Bluetooth, a memory card, and somebody who had already gone and found the file. I was that somebody. Songs, themes, video, whole cards loaded and handed across a desk at school, in the neighbourhood, to family. When the PSP arrived I sold the same thing in a new shape: a card that came already full of games, so nobody else had to work out how. That run lasted until about 2011. Somewhere inside it I stopped asking my parents for money. The amounts were small. The fact that they existed at all was not. After that it got heavier. I started buying stock from suppliers here in the UAE and moving it into the local market: real inventory, cash up front, and a real chance it would sit there. That is where you learn the parts nobody teaches: what a margin actually is, what a supplier’s promise is worth, and what it costs to be wrong about what people want. None of it was a plan and none of it looked like a career. But it left one habit that has never changed. When I see a gap between what people want and what they can reach, I close it myself. In 2005 that was a memory card. In 2013 it was a job at the bottom of an exhibition floor. Today it is an agentic system that runs an events company. It also explains the part of my record that looks like a swerve. Technology was never a hobby I picked up later. It was the thing I sold before I understood it. So when I taught myself Python, SQL, machine learning and eventually agentic AI, I was not looking for a research problem. I was looking for whatever had broken twice on the last floor I stood on. The story From the floor to the machine. I came into events in 2013 the way most people do, at the bottom. Promoter work at GITEX Shopper, VVIP hospitality at the Dubai Air Show, a sales team to lead at Etisalat. Four years of learning what a floor feels like when it is about to go wrong. The middle years were delegations and key accounts. Government delegations from more than 140 countries through DWTC, first as a Government Key Account Manager and then across GITEX Global, Africa and Europe. Seven programme deliveries between April 2023 and December 2025, including the first ever European edition and one direct engagement with KAOUN International, the organiser itself. The measure I care about is that each edition led to the next one. Then operations proper. COP28 at Expo City. Dubai World Cup 2025, running VVIP transport with a team of 60 chauffeurs across every Dubai airport. Gulfood 2025 and its Elite Buyers Program. Galas with 500+ guests, 12+ vendors and government protocol. Multi-site National Day work. A half marathon, a police-and-RTA cycling event, a festival build in Al Ain. None of that runs without freelancers. The crew who build the stage and hold the crowd are the backbone of every UAE event, and their rates are the first thing to get squeezed. So I founded HUSTLERS, a WhatsApp community for UAE event professionals. 500+ of them across five groups: a jobs board, a lounge, a traffic and transport crew, and a leadership circle that is senior only. The rule I care most about is the pay floor. Nothing under 240 AED a day gets posted, and every role is vetted before it goes up. An agent is given an objective, a set of tools and permission to use them, and it works until the objective is met or it reaches something only a person should decide. For an events business that difference is the whole value. Nobody needs help writing a supplier email. They need the quote chased, the variance caught, the run sheet reissued and the client told, without a coordinator holding all four in their head at 2am during build week. That is the work worth automating, and I know which parts of it are safe to automate because I have done every one of them by hand, against a fixed opening date, with a client standing next to me. Agentic AI in events means software that is given an operational objective: reconcile this vendor’s invoices against the purchase order, keep the run sheet in sync with the schedule, chase the outstanding quotes, along with the tools to act and the permission to use them, and that then works the loop on its own until it is done or it reaches a decision a person has to make. It is different from a chatbot, which only responds when asked, and different from ordinary automation, which follows a fixed script and breaks the moment the job is not shaped the way the script expected. The parts of event operations that are information movement (chasing, reconciling, re-issuing, matching, summarising, remembering) are automatable today, and they are most of what coordinators actually spend their hours on. The parts that are judgement under pressure are not: what to cut when you are two hours behind, which vendor is telling you the truth, when to overrule a client. Anyone selling you the second category is selling marketing. The honest pitch is that automating the first category gives the humans their time back for the second. What does an AI transformation for an events company start with? One task that a named person redoes every single job. Not a strategy document, not a platform selection, not a company-wide rollout. Pick the loop, automate it end to end with a human approval gate on anything that spends money, and measure it against the same person doing it by hand. If it does not win, delete it. No, and it is usually the wrong move. Most events businesses already have a CRM, an accounting package and a project tool that people know how to use. Agents are far more useful sitting across those systems (reading them, reconciling between them, acting in them) than they are as a replacement nobody wants to migrate to during season. Rip-and-replace is how AI projects in this industry die. What about client data and confidentiality? It is the first constraint, not an afterthought. I had done exactly none of that before. I have built exhibitions, galas, festivals and government programmes. I had never once been responsible for keeping several hundred thousand living things alive on a schedule. Nobody was going to move the opening date because the producer had not done flowers before. So the real question was never "do I know landscaping." It was: how fast can I learn enough to make good decisions, and how do I make sure the people who do know are heard? 02 What I actually did instead of pretending Said it out loud, early Told the horticulture and irrigation contractors directly that this was not my domain. Specialists tell you far more when they are not busy managing your ego. Learned the failure modes, not the craft I did not need to design an irrigation system. I needed to know what kills one, how long it takes, and what the warning looks like a week early. Put biology on the run sheet Plants do not care about your build schedule. Growth and delivery windows became fixed constraints in the plan, the same as a stage load-in. Made the experts the authority On their call, they decided and I cleared the path. On delivery, budget and the date, I decided. Everyone knew which was which. Rehearsed the failure What happens if a shipment lands late, a zone floods, or a section dies in week two. Answers agreed before they were needed, not during. Owned the boring half Municipality compliance, permits, crowd flow, entry and exit, visitor experience across multiple zones. That part is squarely my domain and it never slipped. 03 The transferable bit Every senior operations job is eventually this. A category you have not run before, a date that will not move, and a team of specialists who know more than you about their piece. The skill being tested is not domain knowledge. It is whether you can be the person who holds the whole thing together while being the least expert person in half the conversations in the room. That takes a specific kind of confidence: enough to make the call, not so much that you make it over the person who actually knows. Delivery capability and domain expertise are different skills. Most hiring confuses them. It is also, unsurprisingly, why I ended up building AI systems for events . Same pattern: unfamiliar territory, real deadline, learn the failure modes fast, and respect the people and tools that know more than you. 04 How it ended The festival opened on its announced date and ran its full season. Then the client kept going with me: Al Ain Ramadan Event straight afterwards, and then Sneaker Con Doha , the first edition in Qatar and Alsayegh's first multi-year IP agreement there. Three consecutive projects, in three different categories, in nine months. In freelance production, that is the review. Nobody rebooks you twice out of politeness. 05 What I will not claim Said up front, so nobody has to ask I am not a horticulturist, an agronomist or an irrigation engineer , and this page is not quietly suggesting otherwise. Specialists did the specialist work. No visitor numbers, budget or revenue figures. Those belong to the client and the authority. I will not estimate someone else's numbers to make my page look better. It was a team. The festival opened because a lot of people did their jobs well. Cars, badges, meeting rooms. It is not. It is a communications problem in a logistics costume. A minister, an ambassador and a sovereign-fund investor each arrive with their own unwritten rules about how a meeting opens, who is introduced first, and what respect looks like. Nobody hands you those rules. You are expected to already know them. Now run forty of those in parallel, in one venue, in one week, with people from more than 140 countries. The failure here is never one big mistake. It is a hundred small discourtesies nobody reports. No one files a complaint about being introduced second. They just do not come back, and the reason never reaches anyone who could have fixed it. So the thing you actually engineer is not the schedule. It is consistency , across dozens of programmes, run by people who cannot all be you. 02 Four rules that never failed Every one of these exists because something nearly went wrong first. Confirm names and titles twice. A wrong title costs more than a late car. You can apologise for a car. The schedule is a living document. Build slack into it, or it will build slack into you. A programme with no give does not survive its first changed flight. The assistant is the most important person you will speak to all week. They hold access, they know the real preferences, and they remember exactly how they were treated. When two protocols collide, seniority wins, and apologies travel down, never up. Decide that before the room fills, not in it. Written down they look obvious. That is the point. The value was never the insight, it is that four lines can be handed to a coordinator who has never met a deputy minister, and they will hold. Which, it turns out, is the same problem I ended up solving with software. 03 Two numbers GITEX Africa, government meetings, year on year +400% Government meetings booked and delivered at GITEX Africa against the previous edition, in my first year on that programme. Not attendance, not footfall. Actual government meetings that happened. Meeting conversion, across every programme 98% Of meetings scheduled, 98% took place. B2B and international government delegations both. That became the benchmark I held every programme to afterwards. Neither came from working longer hours. Both came from treating the meeting pipeline like a pipeline: qualify earlier, brief better, stop chasing delegations that were never going to convert, and give the ones that would a reason to say yes. The 98% is the one I would defend hardest. A booked meeting that does not happen has already cost everyone the money. Confirmation is not attendance. Chasing that last stretch is unglamorous work, and it is most of the job. 04 The seat I had while GITEX went global I joined the delegation side in April 2023 and stayed through December 2025. To be completely clear: I did not cause that expansion. That was DWTC and KAOUN International's strategy, decided well above my pay grade. What I can say is that I was delivering government programmes throughout it, in new markets where nothing was established yet, and that is a specific kind of experience you cannot get at a mature event. 05 The approval chain is the product Every programme cleared four layers before it existed: DWTC leadership, government protocol offices, the embassy or ministry contact, and the delegation's own office. Most people treat that chain as friction to be survived. It is not. At government level the approval chain is what makes a commitment mean something to both sides. Speed comes from knowing what each approver needs. Not from skipping approvers. 06 What I will not claim Said up front, so nobody has to ask The 400% and the 98% are my own programme figures , not published DWTC statistics. I will walk anyone through how both were counted, line by line. I did not drive GITEX's global expansion. I was there for it. Those are very different sentences and I am only making the second one. No total meeting or delegation counts. Those live in DWTC's systems. Not mine to publish, and I will not estimate them. No attributed trade or deal value. Delegations sign their own agreements. Claiming the value that flows through an event you helped run is the oldest inflation in this industry. Contracted, not employed. The engagement ran through Vibes Events. All results below were measured on real historical pricing data , cross-validated, and verified live against the running system, not projected. Learned model vs. working heuristic, cross-validated +7.6% / +8.1% live-verified The gradient-boosted pricing model was only allowed to take over after clearing three statistical bars on cross-validation: beat the median baseline by ≥5%, beat the simpler regression by ≥5% (it cleared +14.9% and +15.8%), and produce a full explanation of its own pricing logic. The model's learned pricing logic, explainable learned, and explainable The model does not just output a number, it outputs the reasoning: which materials, which heights and which build characteristics pushed the price, ranked by how much each one contributed. Those learned adders read like an estimator's own mental model. When a model can explain itself in the language of the trade, operators trust it, and correct it, which trains it further. The adders themselves are the client's commercial pricing structure and are not published here. The part most AI projects skip: the first trained model looked 31% better than the regression, but only 1% better than a simple median. The system's promotion gate rejected it as theater. It also demotes a previously live model whose retrain no longer clears the bar, and when asked to break down a cost section it has too little history for, it refuses and says so rather than inventing a split. Honesty is enforced by machinery, not by intention. 05 Governance: autonomy is earned one capability at a time Directors don't get asked "can you build AI?" They get asked "can you control it?" Every agent action passes through safety tiers, and each capability climbs this ramp only as evidence accumulates: STAGE 1 Assistant Drafts only. A human executes everything. STAGE 2 Co-pilot Acts, but a human approves each action. STAGE 3 Supervised autopilot Self-approves low-risk actions within rules; asks on high-risk. STAGE 4 Autopilot Runs routine deals end-to-end; escalates exceptions only. Frontier models drew the architecture and reviewed the hard decisions; workhorse models implemented scoped, pre-specified batches; every batch shipped with tests and was verified live against the real system before the next began. ~39,000 lines of working code : a 25k-line Python backend across 222 files and a 14k-line TypeScript frontend, plus 8,800 lines of tests. 753 automated tests, all green : grown batch-by-batch, never bolted on after (re-run and verified the day this case study was written). The suite is what lets AI agents build safely at this speed. Live verification as a discipline : measured claims (the pricing numbers above) come from runs against the real deployed system, and the build log records the failures too, including the model the promotion gate rejected. Scope discipline : a deferred-work ledger tracks every consciously parked feature with the condition that revives it. The build queue was closed by decision, not exhaustion: the system now improves by being used. That workflow, blueprint first, typed tool seams, statistical promotion gates, human approval tiers, test-gated AI batches, is the same operating discipline I bring to transforming a business. The codebase is the proof it works. 08 What I will not claim Read this before you believe the rest It is not finished learning, and that is the design. The hard work is done: the corpus is built, the pipeline runs, the promotion gate works. Accuracy now improves with volume, so the more history a company feeds it, the sharper it gets. Any vendor telling you their pricing model is finished on day one is selling you something. No revenue-ROI figures yet. The system entered production use on July 12, 2026. Client-facing ROI numbers (hours saved per quote, win-rate movement) will be published once real usage produces them, measured like everything above. The accuracy numbers are technical, not commercial. They are cross-validated error reductions on real historical data. Strong evidence the learning works, not a promise about your P&L. Some capabilities are deliberately dormant. Deal-outcome prediction, for example, activates itself only after ~100 closed deals of data exist. It would be theater to switch it on sooner, so it's off. Complex layouts, tables, columns, and graphics confuse the parser. Step 2, Match: It compares your CV against the job description keyword by keyword. The average job description has 15–25 key skills and qualifications being scanned for. Step 3, Rank: You get a match score. Recruiters filter by score and start reviewing from the highest. If you score below 60%, your CV may never be opened. Step 4, Knockout: Some roles have hard knockout questions, work authorisation, specific certifications, minimum experience. If you fail these, you're out regardless of score. UNDERSTAND THIS BEFORE APPLYING 💀 What Kills Your ATS Score Instantly Using tables, columns, or text boxes: the parser can't read them Saving as .jpeg, .png, or a heavily designed PDF, use .docx or clean PDF Putting key info in headers/footers: ATS often ignores these sections Using fancy icons, graphics, or logos in your CV Generic job titles that don't match what the employer searched for Missing keywords that appear in the job description Spelling job titles incorrectly or using abbreviations only AVOID ALL OF THE ABOVE 02 BUILD YOUR CV RIGHT Structure, order, and content. No photo, no nationality, no DOB unless specifically requested. 2. Professional Summary , 3 lines max. Who you are, your years of experience, and your top 2 strengths. Write this LAST after the rest is done. 3. Core Skills : A clean list of 8–12 keywords that match the job. This is where ATS picks up most of its score. Use the exact words from the job description. 4. Work Experience , Reverse chronological. Each role: company, title, dates, 3–5 bullet points of achievements. Not just duties. 5. Education & Certifications , Most recent first. Include any NEBOSH, JAM Training, event-related certs here. 6. Languages , Only if relevant. English fluency matters for UAE event roles. Ask: "List the top 15 skills and keywords from this job description that I should include in my CV." Then check your CV, how many are missing?
